Like in an rpg, race mostly just aesthetic and some traits. The bad is that race matters less, even less than in AoW 3. In AoW 1/2 you could create 1 orc empire, in AoW 3 one for each class so seven different orc empire, and in AoW 4 with 6 clutures and 53( or 56?) Tomes the number is probably more than a thousand. Choosing orc race over dwarf race gives you 0 troops on its own. A skave I mean ratmen barbarian have the same starting units as an orc barbarian (they look differently ofc). Lennart himself said that culture(feudal, barbarian, industrious ect.) defines the starting units(so not race). Those troops they controlled were barbarian troops not orc troops.
